What is a String Quartet?
The traditional string quartet has been around for hundreds of
years, bringing a unique tone quality appropriate for any kind
of event. It can stand alone in a concert or provide the perfect
amount of subtle background music. The four voices of two violins,
viola, and a cello, mimic the SATB ranges of a choir, and can
also represent individually what might possibly be played by
an entire symphony orchestra.
Why Choose a String Quartet?
A String quartet is one of the only enembles that can provide
the versatility necessary to perform any type of music at
a ceremony, concert, party, or dinner. The low, sonorous
character of the cello and viola combined with the singing
quality of two violins provide a complete sound with a tone
quality that smaller ensembles simply cannot match.
Why the Briar Rose String Quartet?
The Briar Rose String Quartet is composed of professional string
players with advanced degrees in performance. We have studied
with some of the greatest chamber artists of today, including
the Altenburg Trio in Vienna, Austria, and the Guaneri Quartet.
We have achieved a level of versatility in performance that
enables us to play as soloists, chamber artists, and orchestral
musicians.
What makes the Briar Rose Quartet even more unique is that
we have played together for several years and possess the silent
communication skills and unity of style necessary to create
performances of the highest caliber.
